Hargeisa – The Internal Affairs, Security and Defence Committee of the Somaliland House of Representatives on Tuesday held a high-level working meeting with the Hargeisa Capital City Local Government to advance discussions on the ongoing review of the Citizenship Law.
The meeting was chaired by the Committee’s Chairman, Hon. Adan Osman Harbi, while the municipal delegation was led by the Deputy Mayor of Hargeisa, Mr. Khadar Ahmed Omar. He was accompanied by a number of senior officials, including MP Aydarus Abdisamad Mohamed, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, Director of the Department of Civil Registration and Nationality, and legal adviser Mr. Said Nuh Abdullahi.
The discussions focused on the comprehensive review of the Citizenship Law, which is currently being examined and drafted by the Internal Affairs, Security and Defence Committee.
Participants held in-depth deliberations on key provisions of the law, implementation mechanisms, and the respective roles of relevant institutions in ensuring its effective enforcement.
The meeting was held at the office of the Internal Affairs, Security and Defence Committee at the House of Representatives headquarters and concluded with a shared understanding and a constructive exchange of views and information considered vital to the finalisation of the Citizenship Law.
