DUBAI — Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi “Irro” has said Somaliland supports the Middle East peace initiative aimed at achieving lasting stability, while rejecting claims linking Somaliland to proposals involving the resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza.
In an interview with Sky News Arabic, President Irro stated that reports suggesting Somaliland offered to host Palestinians in exchange for recognition by Israel were unfounded.
“It was never discussed, never proposed, and it does not exist,” he said.
President Irro added that Somaliland supports the peace initiative led by former US President Donald Trump, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains the only sustainable solution.
He also expressed optimism that more countries would recognize Somaliland in the future, noting that while Israel responded to Somaliland’s recognition request in 2015, further responses are expected.
