Hargeysa-The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), today participated in the commemoration of Somalilandโs National Tree Planting Day, which was observed across all regions and districts of the country.
The President delivered a keynote address carrying a strong national message, in which he underscored the importance of environmental protection, the critical role of tree planting in stabilizing ecosystems, and the urgent need for a unified national response to the challenges posed by global climate change.
He emphasized that tree planting is not solely the responsibility of the Ministry of Environment, but rather a national duty tied to safeguarding the lives of people and wildlife, promoting a green economy, and securing the future of coming generations.
He noted that environmental degradation and recurring droughts have had a direct impact on communities, necessitating a coordinated national response.
Furthermore, the President called on every citizen of Somaliland to take individual responsibility in protecting the environment, stressing that such efforts will enhance the countryโs image and standing, and demonstrate to the international community that Somaliland is a responsible nation.
