Hargeisa- Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) has held strategic talks with UK Ambassador Charles King in Hargeisa, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, development support, security, democracy, and Somalilandโs international recognition efforts.
The UK envoy praised Somalilandโs stability, democratic progress, and institution-building, while reaffirming Britainโs continued partnership with Somaliland.
Somaliland and the United Kingdom share a historic relationship dating back to the period when Britain administered British Somaliland before independence in 1960.
Over the years, the UK has provided millions of dollars in development assistance to Somaliland, supporting areas such as governance, education, security, and community development.
The United Kingdom is also home to one of the largest Somaliland diaspora communities abroad.
