Hargeisa-Officials from UNESCO and DT Global conducted an assessment of the historical archives belonging to the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland.
Representatives from UNESCO and DT Global paid a working visit today to assess the historical archives of Radio Hargeisa, Somaliland National Television, and Dawan Newspaper.
The meeting focused on UNESCO conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the various historical archive sections within the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Awareness. Discussions also covered the history and evolution of the archives, international preservation standards, and opportunities for modernization in line with global benchmarks.
DT Global, a partner organization collaborating with the Ministry—particularly in the areas of culture and the preservation of arts and literature—also participated in the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Awareness, Mr. Abdisalan Mohamoud Duale (Ilkacase). He was accompanied by the directors of the Culture Department, Somaliland National Television, Radio Hargeisa, Dawan Newspaper, and the Planning and Policy Department.
Representatives from partner organizations included Rahul Goswami from UNESCO and Muna Ahmed Omar from DT Global.
This meeting is part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen the preservation, enhancement, and modernization of the nation’s historical archives, ensuring that Somaliland’s historical and cultural heritage is safeguarded and passed on to future generations. #Somaliland
