Hargeisa-A high-level delegation led by Somaliland’s Minister of Internal Affairs, alongside members of the House of Elders (Guurti), has arrived in the Geerisa area of Saylac district in the Salal region to spearhead peace mediation efforts.
The delegation, which previously conducted successful reconciliation talks in areas under Lughaya district, has now begun mediation between the communities of Geerisa and Jiidhi, with the aim of achieving lasting peace.
The government team, headed by the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Water Resources, earlier brokered a peace agreement between the brotherly communities involved in the conflict. Their efforts laid the foundation for stability in Lughaya district—an outcome that had been widely anticipated by local residents.
