Hargeisa, Republic of Somaliland The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Somaliland has issued an immediate press release condemning recent remarks by the President of the Republic of Türkiye regarding Somaliland.
In the statement, the Government of Somaliland described the comments as unacceptable interference aimed at discouraging relations between Somaliland and its regional partners.
It emphasized that foreign policy decisions within the Horn of Africa must be determined solely by the governments and peoples of the region.
The statement further warned against extending external rivalries into the Horn of Africa in ways that could undermine regional stability and cooperation.
Somaliland called on Türkiye to refrain from adopting positions that may inflame tensions and instead uphold the principles of mutual respect, non-interference, and sovereign decision-making.
Reaffirming its stance, Somaliland stated that its engagement with regional and international partners, as well as its pursuit of international recognition, remains peaceful, lawful, and firmly rooted in the democratic aspirations of its people.
