Spokesperson Hussein Deyr: “Somaliland–Israel Relations Go Beyond a Mere Diplomatic Symbol”.

Hargeisa — The Spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Hussein Aden Cigge (Deyr), has described Israel’s recognition of Somaliland on 26 December 2025 as a strategic milestone rather than a purely symbolic diplomatic gesture, noting that it reflects shifting geopolitical dynamics in the Horn of Africa.

In a post on his official X (Twitter) account, cited by the Somaliland National News Agency (SOLNA), the spokesperson emphasized that this recognition enhances Somaliland’s international standing and opens a new chapter of broad cooperation in trade, technology, energy, water resources, agriculture, and security between the two countries.

He also noted that Israel views Somaliland as a strategic ally located along one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors, a factor expected to strengthen security cooperation and deepen diplomatic relations in the Horn of Africa region.

Mr. Deyr underscored that this partnership is based on mutual interests, stability, sovereignty, and a shared strategic vision, and will be implemented in a region of high geopolitical significance.
