Hargeisa โ The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), has successfully mediated a dispute between the Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the KAAH political party concerning voter registration procedures, particularly the allocation and number of registration centers.
The disagreement had prompted KAAH to suspend its cooperation with the Commission, raising concerns over the smooth implementation of the voter registration process.
However, following high-level consultations led by President Irro, both sides agreed to restore cooperation in the interest of safeguarding the integrity and stability of the electoral process.
As part of the resolution, the two parties agreed to establish a joint technical committee tasked with addressing the outstanding issues and ensuring transparency and mutual understanding moving forward.
A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for after Eid al-Fitr to finalize the remaining matters and consolidate the progress achieved.
Both the NEC and KAAH party officials commended President Irro for his constructive leadership and pivotal role in resolving the dispute through dialogue, describing the outcome as a positive step toward strengthening Somalilandโs democratic process.
