Hargeisa- The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), today hosted former IGAD envoy Mohamed Abdi Afey at the Presidential Palace in Hargeisa, in a high-level meeting focused on regional security, political developments, and enhanced cooperation across the Horn of Africa.
During the discussions, President Irro underscored Somalilandโs pivotal role in promoting stability in the region, describing the country as a democratic and peaceful actor within an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
He stressed the need for stronger collaboration among Horn of Africa nations to achieve sustainable peace and long-term development.
For his part, Ambassador Afey commended Somalilandโs strides in peacebuilding and state-building, noting that its experience offers valuable lessons for neighboring countries facing similar challenges.
He also disclosed plans to publish a book chronicling his involvement in peace initiatives across the Horn of Africa.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials and prominent business figures, including investors with a particular interest in the healthcare sector, highlighting Somalilandโs ongoing efforts to attract sustainable investment and foster economic growth.
